5 links to get the most out of Pandora

December 18th, 2006 · 2 Comments

I’m a big fan of Pandora - ever since I’ve started using it most of the music I listen comes from Pandora. What’s Pandora?

Pandora is a music discovery service designed to help you find and enjoy music that you’ll love. It’s powered by the Music Genome Project, the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken. Just tell us one of your favorite songs or artists and we’ll launch a streaming station to explore that part of the music universe.

(from Pandora FAQ)

Pandora

Or in other words - it’s a web application that plays the music you like, but it selects the music by itself! You just select one or few artists/songs you like, and their service compiles a whole play list for you. If you want to really understand what it means just goto Pandora’s site, and just start it. not long after you will be captured by the Pandora magic. :-)

After you’ve become a fan, here are some links to help you make the most out of Pandora:

  • 15 ways to get more out of Pandora by Wendy Boswell / LifeHacker.com.
  • Open Pandora - when you get tired of running Pandora from a browser window, download this program. It will run Pandora in a windows of its own, minimize to tasktray to not disturb you while playing music and get integrated with some other programs, as Windows Messenger, Skype and more. There’s also PandorasBox that does pretty much the same. I’ve started with Open Pandora, so I’ll stick to it.
  • Pandora Boy - to all the Mac users out there - a program similar to Open Pandora for OS X.
  • Pandora Stations - a website dedicated to sharing Pandora stations. Tired of your own stations? Find some cool stations created by others.
  • Listen to Holiday music with Pandora - a tip by Wendy Boswell on how to create Pandora station with your favorite holiday music.

Oh, yeah - and if you want to know a bit more about the making of Pandora and the Music Genome Project, read an interview with their CTO here or just read their about page.

You’re still here?! Go sign up at Pandora !

I would really like to hear your comments about Pandora and how you use it.

Opher - I found your link on Digg. I’m the designer/admin over at Pandora Stations. Thanks for the link and mention in your list!

    See you in the Pandorasphere.
